Moving with your family can be difficult – but there are some things that won’t fit into a moving box. These things like pets and plants can bring a challenge when the boxes are packed, and the bubble wrap applied. How do we move live things such as animals and plants with ease?

If you are moving internationally, your pet will require up to date immunizations, identification, and a copy of veterinarian records. In some countries it remains legislation that your pet be places in quarantine for a certain amount of time after arrival. As well, there may be some age or breed restrictions within a certain country, and import fees. Often, the information that you need can be learned from the destination airport or consulate.

A visit to the vet will clear up any traveling issues. The vet will be able to answer any questions that you may have about international issues, or creating a comfortable environment during the move. The vet can also help with putting you in touch with a new veterinarian once you arrive.

Traveling with your pet could prove to be difficult. You could schedule a short visit to the veterinarian prior to departure to talk about sedation. Whether air or grounds, there are going to have to be extra precautions taken to make your pet comfortable, after all, it is a part of your family.

While booking the tickets if flying, ensure that your pet is on the same flight as your family. Pets are stored as cargo unless they are toy or miniature size and can fit in a carry on pet-bag. This can be a stressful experience for pets, so it is important to supply an adequate amount of water and sedatives if required.

While traveling there are three things that you should ensure. Your pet should have tags, with your name destination address, an emergency contact and this collar with a tag is securely attached to the pet, as well as the information written or tagged onto the travel kennel. You should also have a picture of your pet, with reference and most important, the vet records! Keep the documents in order, and the move with your pet should be worry free!
