After your belongings are packed and you are ready to move there is one more step in the moving process, Packing the moving truck. This should be done in a way that the items are not compromised and will remain in the same place until you reach the destination.

This moving guide will ensure that you correctly pack the moving truck. This will come in especially helpful if you are moving without the help of a moving company.

The largest, heaviest and most awkward items should be moved first. These items should be placed at the back of the truck. Ensure that these items are adequately packed with high grade bubble wrap and packing blankets. If you are moving appliances such as fridges, stoves and freezers it is these items that should be packed first. Appliances need proper packing materials too! Appliances are just as susceptible to scratches and dents, and should be moved and packed upright to limit the risk of damage.

Next the heavy furniture, and mattresses and box springs and sofas, these items should be packed along the sides of the truck and be covered with sufficient packing supplies.

It is important to balance the right and left sides of the moving truck with approximately the same amount of weight.

Group similar sized moving boxes together; this will ensure that they fit uniformly into the moving truck, creating a tight move.

The heavy and large packing boxes should be the next loaded into the truck. Use these boxes to fill space between the appliances, and the furniture. Packing boxes tight ensures that there wont be any movement in transit. Less movement largely equals less damage.

Pack the light moving boxes atop of the heavy moving boxes, tightly, to ensure that they are tight, and will not move around.

Lastly, those items that are awkward should be packed. Find nooks to place the items in that wont move while the truck is driving. These items can be placed in between other items, and secure the fragile items with packing blankets and packing tape.
