Do It Yourself Packing Moving Boxes

Friday, October 30th, 2009

boxes2If you’re moving yourself, without the help of a company, the most essential thing you’ll need is moving supplies. Don’t use cheap packing boxes to move. Instead invest in strong moving boxes. You can find useful packing boxes at the grocery store, warehouse, restaurants and ofcourse, the liquor store. All of these cardboard boxes are great to use but make sure you are using the right box for the right objects. For example, some boxes are specially made to hold jars, books, dishes and even clothes. So, make sure you choose the right box so your things will be kept safe and not damaged.

At the end of the moving day, you will be glad that you decided to use packing boxes instead of ordinary card board boxes. Packing boxes are very sturdy and come in a variety of sizes to fit your every moving need. Of course, packing up all your belongings and moving them into a new house is more than a big job but it’s an even bigger job when you don’t do it correctly. When it is not done correct, you will spend the majority of your time fixing and adjusting boxes that you found around the house or that a friend gave you, instead of just taking the time to go purchase new or used moving boxes and packing everything in the right box the first time.

boxesWhen most people decide to pack it up and hit the road, they forget the most important thing: the moving boxes! Of course with the recession occurring in today’s economy, I’m sure you are trying to save every dollar down to the last penny. But are moving boxes really needed to move? Let’s see.

If you are the ultimate penny pincher, buying packing boxes just to move is probably out of the question for you. But is buying cardboard boxes really a waste of money? Well, you can choose not to buy moving boxes and have all of your valuables and belongings all over the place or buy a few packing boxes and have your valuables and belongings safe and secure. You may have boxes and moving supplies on hand but are they sturdy enough to take on the moving ride and hold all of your belongings? If you are already stretching money to move, you can still afford moving boxes. You can purchase used moving boxes. This way, you are able to save time and money.

Yes, there is a recession going on, so the bottom line is always money. If you have money to spare, throw away or just spend, hire a moving company to do all the work for you. With a moving company, they are already familiar with what’s good and what’s not with moving. They use special packing and moving boxes and they use the best packing method that works for them. Keep in mind that not all moving companies pack your things and move you too. So look around and do your homework on these companies. It would be in your best interest to look for companies who have a high success rate.  These will be the better companies.

Moving 101 for packing moving boxes

bubbleWhether you are moving across the country or just across town, you will want your variables to arrive in the same condition you packed them in. When packing your moving boxes with your valuables, make a checklist to make sure that you don’t forget anything. Your valuables should take the moving ride with you. Of course not everyone will find the things you find valuable, valuable. So the best safety measure to take is to take as much of your valuable things with you as possible. If not, you can always use things like moving supplies such as bubble wrap, packing paper and packing peanuts. These are all very helpful when it comes to keeping valuables safe during the moving process.

There are a few essential packing moving supplies that you should purchase. Bubble wrap is a plastic that is transparent and is commonly used to pack fragile items.  Bubble wrap provides cushioning for valuables by the little air filled circles. This is where the name “bubble wrap” came about. It was founded in 1960 by two inventors by the names of Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes. Bubble wrap is available in numerous sizes. When you decide to use bubble wrap moving supplies to cushion and protect your valuables, keep in mind the size of your valuables, the amount of cushion you think your valuables will need and if they will be needing multiple layers of protection. These multiple layers provide isolation between the box and your valuables. This way, even if the box gets a little bang or scratch, your valuables will still be okay. If you feel that multiple layers are a bit much, you can choose to use a single layer of bubble wrap as a surface protector.

Handle With Care when packing moving boxes

fragileWill you be in the process of moving soon? If so, think about everything that you will be packing to take with you. Why? When it comes time to pack up everything and move, the type of moving boxes that you will be using makes all the difference in the world. When packing, especially valuables, the boxes from the liquor store are the best. They have all types of boxes. They have big and small cardboard boxes. They even have boxes with little compartments in them if you need it. Of course when shipping liquor, no one wants the bottles to get broken and have a big mess on their hands, so if these boxes can hold liquor bottles in place, I’m sure all of your valuables will be just fine.

Of course, you don’t want any of your good china to get broken or any of your other glassware and dishes. Here are a few tips on how to keep them safe for and equip them for the ride ahead. Keep in mind that moving supplies and boxes come in various shapes and sizes and each provides a different service.

Packing tape is the best ever when it comes time to seal up your moving boxes. Some people use duct tape but I really wouldn’t recommend it, only because duct tape is very messy and it can shred easily. If you are a person who wants everything nice, neat, clean and pretty, then packing tape is just for you. It’s clear and bonds instantly.
